Minister’s Letter – An important 2 weeks of prayer
On Oct 24, Our Hindu neighbours will celebrate Diwali, the festival of light. According to the Hindustan Times (a paper published in New Delhi), “Hindus celebrate this auspicious festival to observe the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil and hope over despair.” Sound familiar? Those celebrating Diwali know what the right issues are, they just need to meet Jesus, who is the “light of the world”.
Ahead of this important item on the calendar, Evangelism and New Churches (an arm of the Anglican denomination here in Sydney) have published a 15-day prayer guide (16-30 Oct), asking God to be at work among the Hindu population. I have ordered four copies and am seeking four friends to join with me in praying for the Hindus of the Hornsby region. First in, first served! Alternatively, you can order your own a copy (print and e-book) from https://hinduprayerguide.weebly.com.
If you wish to know more about the growing need for evangelism among Hindus in Sydney, then the following article might be a helpful read: https://sydneyanglicans.net/news/the-subcontinent-comes-to-sydney/
Last week I mentioned how our Ministry Think Tank is renewing our church’s ministry vision. Surely the growing Hindu population of our area must be a factor we consider. We start with prayer.
