Staff Letter: End to SRE for the year and Quiz Worx assembly

On Wednesday afternoons a team from Waitara Anglican and other local churches teach 7 Special Religious Education (SRE) classes at Waitara Public School.

Waitara Public School has more than 1000 students who come from a diverse range of backgrounds. There are 150 students in our Combined Christian classes and another 150 in Catholic who joined together for the end of year Christmas assembly with Quiz Worx this week.

Quiz Worx exists to share Jesus with kids everywhere and they do this by presenting the Good News of the Bible through performing creative live shows for kids, especially in state schools. At Christmas they have 12 teams who present about 365 shows in schools!

Children met a purple puppet called Moxie who didn’t know why Christmas was merry. Students dressed up as shepherds and danced and sang along to the story about the angel announcing Jesus’ birth. There was a big nativity scene that was assembled as the story about Mary and Joseph finding no room at the inn was told. There was an enormous present that had pictures telling how the wise men followed a star to find king Jesus. The show taught about Jesus being the saviour and king and how Christmas is merry because of Jesus.

If you’d like to find out more about supporting SRE please speak to Richard, Nick or myself.
