Mission Sunday this week – Sunday 26th Nov
Mike Wilson from SIM will be with us this Sunday Nov 26 and will teach us a bit about SIM’s work. This is a developing relationship we have with this mission agency, so we would like to make him feel warmly welcomed! This is also ‘Mission Sunday’: an opportunity to bring a special financial gift in support of our missionaries. Please bring gifts in a marked envelope, or deposit your gift electronically into our church account BSB: 062 181; Account number: 10006018. Make sure you tell us it’s for ‘Mission Sunday’ in the description field.
Letterbox Drop with Christmas Postcard
This year’s Christmas Postcard is now available for distribution. Why not spend a couple of evenings walking the streets of your neighbourhood delivering an invitation into the postboxes of those who live nearby? If you get the chance, maybe a personal invitation as you hand the card over? Pick up a bundle and add your name to the distribution list and street names.
G4K – Games For Kids
If you know children in Years 4-6 next year, perhaps ask them to join us in 2018 for Games For Kids.
Starting next year on Friday afternoons in school term, the group will meet from 3.30pm until 5.30pm. This will be a fun time with friends, board games, a lesson from the Bible and will include afternoon tea. $30 per term. Please email your registration interest to the church office: email@example.com
Carols Helpers – 17th December 2017
Let's celebrate God's love this Christmas on December 17.
5pm: BBQ with jumping castle, craft and games room for year 3+.
6pm: Christmas Carols followed by supper
Please pray. Please plan to come. Please plan to invite friends and family. If you can, please volunteer to help with selling food, kids craft, face painting, temporary tattoos, set up, pack up or where ever needed. Please also bring a plate of food to share for supper (Let Emma Speyer know or put your name on the sign up sheet).
The more volunteers we have, the better we can make it!
If you have any questions or want to find out more about how you can help please see Emma Speyer or Emily Carpenter (Emily’s contact details 0433 030 818; firstname.lastname@example.org). Thanks in advance!
Next week, Dec 3rd, Bishop Chris Edwards will be with us as he finishes off our Ruth series. It’s been a while since Chris has been with us, so it would be great if as many people as possible could be on deck to reconnect and make him and Belinda feel at home.
Last Chance this Sunday for Toys and Tucker
Through Toys ‘n’ Tucker, Anglicare Sydney provides a way for churches, schools, businesses and community groups to share the joy of Christmas and demonstrate God’s love by providing food and gifts for those who would otherwise go without. We are collecting non-perishable food items and gifts for young people until this Sunday (Nov 26th). Christmas can be a particularly difficult time for many people and Toys ‘n’ Tucker provides a way for us to let them know they’re not forgotten. Thank you to everyone who has already donated, your generosity is appreciated.
Holiday House needed
We are planning to have a young adults weekend away early next year (in February) and were wondering whether anyone in the church might own or have access to a holiday house not more than a couple of hours from Sydney? Let Matt or Leonie Morrison know if you have any ideas! email@example.com; firstname.lastname@example.org
Thanks to everyone who has returned their expression of interest form – and a reminder to those who have not yet done so ... we’d love to hear from you to help us shape our plans.
Phil White would like to hear from guys interested in joining him for bike rides (mountain or road) and/or short bush walks around the area. If you might be interested, please email the Church office

Prayers for this week
Pray for Zimbabwe as they experience a transition of leadership with the end of Robert Mugabe’s rule. Pray that the new era will be safe and prosperous, especially for churches, and not worse than what it was!
Pray for Hornsby-Kuringai Hospital and the staff who work within it. Pray for the chaplains who seek to minister to those that are unwell and recovering from injury and illness. Give thanks for the expert treatment many of our own congregation members have received recently.
Give thanks for those who give so generously out of their own finances to help our church function week in and week out. Pray that in 2018 more people might consider joining them!
Pray for “Games for Kids” (G4K), the Friday afternoon ministry that we are planning to start next year. Pray that we will get a good crowd of children along. Pray that this ministry will make connections with new families.
Pray for those who are living far from their family networks, and the particular feelings of isolation that this brings. Pray that those without their families might be granted the blessing of good friendships.
Give thanks for Penny and Ben’s safe arrival in Namibia. Pray they might adjust well to their new home, and that suitable long term accomodation might be found. Pray for the Ongs and their home assignment over the next few months.
Blessings from your team at church,
Marty, Emily, Nick, Richard, Matt, and Vicki
