Mission Sunday

Mike Wilson from SIM will be with us next Sunday Nov 26 and will teach us a bit about SIM’s work. This is a developing relationship we have with this mission agency, so we would like to make him feel warmly welcomed! This is also ‘Mission Sunday’, an opportunity to bring a special financial gift in support of our missionaries. Please bring gifts in a marked envelope, or deposit your gift electronically into our church account BSB: 062 181; Account number: 10006018.

Bishop’s visit

On Dec 3 Bishop Chris Edwards will be with us as he finishes off our Ruth series. It’s been a while since Chris has been with us, so it would be great if as many people as possible could be on deck to reconnect and make him and Belinda feel at home.

Toys and Tucker 5th Nov until 26th Nov

Through Toys ‘n’ Tucker, Anglicare Sydney provides a way for churches, schools, businesses and community groups to share the joy of Christmas and demonstrate God’s love by providing food and gifts for those who would otherwise go without. We are collecting non-perishable food items and gifts for young people until the last Sunday in November (26th). Christmas can be a particularly difficult time for many people and Toys ‘n’ Tucker provides a way for us to let them know they’re not forgotten.

Holiday House needed

We are planning to have a young adults weekend away early next year (in February) and were wondering whether anyone in the church might own or have access to a holiday house not more than a couple of hours from Sydney? Let Matt or Leonie Morrison know if you have any ideas! mattmorrison1308@gmail.com; leonie10@gmail.com

Prayers for this week

Pray for relief efforts in Iran and Iraq to speed up in the wake of last weekend’s earthquake. Pray that Christ may make himself known to many in these lands as the one sure hope for life after death.

Pray for wise legislation to be formulated by our politicians in the wake of this week’s postal survey result. Pray that the ministry of faithful Christian organisations (as well as churches) might continue without hindrance.

Give thanks for the good numbers at ESL in recent weeks. Pray that the easy-English Bible study might be used by the Holy Spirit to convict participants of their need of Jesus. Give thanks for the volunteers who serve in this ministry.

Pray for our guest speakers Mike Wilson (Nov 26) and Chris Edwards (Dec 3). Pray for a generous response to Mission Sunday on Nov 26.

Pray for those within our congregations who are suffering chronic illnesses. Pray that doctors might find a way to provide lasting relief. Pray for strength and a knowledge of God’s love in the meantime.

Give thanks that Ben and Penny finally have their departure dates for Namibia! They set off on Sunday the 19th, are flying via Thailand and Ethiopia, and will touchdown in Namibia on the afternoon of Monday the 20th. Please pray especially for the security of their baggage, for smooth connections and few hassles, and for them to settle into their mysterious new living arrangements.

Blessings from your team at church,

Marty, Emily, Nick, Richard, Matt, and Vicki
