Service arrangements for December
This Sunday will be our end of term C4K (Church for Kids) service at 10am. All the kids and families are welcome as there will be special items planned just for you.
Nick Speyer will be kicking off our James series at 8.30am and 5pm services. Why not hop onto our website and glance over the study guides that have been prepared? Next week the audio will be available for those who like to listen and revise during the week.
Our Six45 Youth Service will be led by Matt Morrison and finishing off the studies from the Book of Ruth. Our Youth service will then be on a short Christmas break and kicking off in 2018 on the 14th January. Please pray for them during the Christmas holidays and for our leaders who will have a well earned break and be refreshed for next term.
Christmas Cards for our missionaries
Please take a few minutes in the church foyer to sign your name on the Christmas cards that we are posting off to our link missionaries. This is a positive way to let them know we are praying for them this Christmas season.
Giving in 2018
As the new year is just around the corner, it’s a good opportunity for us to think about what our financial commitment will be like next year—and also to make sure we don’t drop our giving for the final month of 2017! Consider the following chart; which box best describes you in 2017, and can you move one step to the right in 2018?
Of course, other disciplines can be inserted into the above diagram, such as church attendance and time spent in Bible reading and prayer. Now is a good time to think about what might be different in your walk with Christ in 2018.
Dinner following 5pm church this week
This coming week will be a special celebration for Anne Trouncer’s birthday and we invite you to join us for 5pm church and dinner following the service. All welcome!
Christmas Carols in Waitara – 17th Dec starting at 5pm
Please take some time this week to invite and promote our Carols service that is happening on the 17th December. Family festival and activities will begin at 5pm and the service will be at 6pm. Our team of many helpers are busy getting everything ready, and it’s not too late to put your hand up as and extra helper. Just talk to Emily or Emma via the church office. If you might be interested, please email the Church office firstname.lastname@example.org
Please share our Facebook page with all your social media contacts and let people know what’s happening here in Waitara over Christmas season.
Katherina and daughter Ruby Bilko are looking to rent a 1 or 2 bedroom flat, granny flat or house sit for 14 months commencing end January 2018 (or earlier) while Katherina completes her Diploma of Nursing at The San. She can afford up to $350/400 per week.
If you or you know of someone who may be able to help, please contact her on mobile 0433155554. She has minimal other furniture that is second hand and is happy to give it away if the space is small.
Please pray for them that God will continue to provide, that their needs will be met, that Ruby doesn’t need to change schools, that they can stay in the area and that anxiety levels be low during this stressful time.
Prayers for this week
Pray for the continued growth and strengthening of churches in China, despite the current President’s nervousness over the influence of religion.
Pray for our state government, especially our Premier Gladys Berejiklian. Pray that the interests of big business might not dominate over the interests of other parties.
Give thanks that the arrangements with the two tutoring groups renting our facility have so far been successful. Pray that the relationship might continue to be productive for each party.
Give thanks for our Growth Groups as many of them finish for the year. Ask God to raise up more interested leaders and participants for these groups in 2018.
Pray for Eion Miller as he adjusts to living in a care facility. Pray for Bethany as she adjusts to not having Eion at home. Pray for those for whom Christmas is a lonely and sad time; that they might find some comfort in God and his people.
Give thanks for the year’s teaching by Scripture teachers at Asquith Boys and Girls High Schools. Give thanks for Ruth Mahaffey and Richard Sercombe’s time, and pray for suitable replacements as they both move on.
Blessings from your team at church,
Marty, Emily, Nick, Richard, Matt, and Vicki
