What We Believe
So who are we, and what do we do? We hope you find this information helpful, but please call or visit us if you would like to find out more. We'd love to meet you.
We believe there is only one God, who exists in three persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe Jesus is God on earth, that he lived a perfect life on earth, died on a cross to pay the price for the death we deserve, and rose again to show his power over death.
We believe Jesus is the only way to be saved. We deserve death, and we need to trust him to take the punishment of the death we deserve. (What some people call "substitutionary atonement")
We believe the Bible is the Word of God - that it is inerrant (it has no errors) and infallible (it never fails to get God's true message to us). We preach from the Bible every week at our worship meetings.
We believe God lives in us by His Holy Spirit, giving us the wisdom and strength we need to serve Him each day.
We believe we are weak, broken and sinful human beings, greatly in need of God's help in our life, every minute of every day.
We believe Jesus died, once for all, to bring us to God, and that when we put our trust in him, our sins are forgiven, and we are made perfect in God's sight, and able to live with him forever.
We believe our church community is important - God has given us our church family to strengthen us and to help us to grow spiritually. They are also there to correct us when we need it.
We believe God calls all of us to serve in this world - to serve God himself, our families, our church, and our community.
We believe hell exists.
We believe heaven is where we're going if we put our trust in Jesus. And we can be absolutely certain of that.
We believe Jesus is returning any day now, but we don't know when. Maybe in ten minutes, maybe another 2000 years.
We believe our church has problems, because all of our members have problems. We'd love you to bring your problems to church too, because we believe God works with us, and through us, despite our problems. He always loves us, and he's the only one who can truly heal us.
We believe church should be engaging, and exciting, that it should encourage, teach, correct and rebuke, and train us in righteousness.
We believe the words of the Apostle's Creed and Nicene Creed are helpful statements of faith.
We believe God gives us a mission, to serve him as individuals, and as a church.
We believe lots of other things and we'd love to talk with you about them. Why not call us or visit one of our regular services. We'd love to talk to you, whatever background you have, churched or unchurched, another denomination, or another religion, whether you're intrigued or need help, if you're upset with life or excited about worshipping God - whoever you are, wherever you are in life, we'd love to know you, and we'd love for you to know our community at Waitara Anglican Church!
